ASTRA: Knights of Veda Bids Farewell to English Dubbing

Following a maintenance update scheduled for January 23, 2025, ASTRA: Knights of Veda will be removing its English voice-over option. This decision, announced by developer FLINT on January 20th, aims to bolster game stability and enhance the quality of other language localizations.

The January 23rd maintenance will implement a language support adjustment. While support for Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian will remain, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian voice-overs will be discontinued. Importantly, English text support will continue. However, the in-game voice option will default to Japanese for players outside of Korea. FLINT assures players this change won't affect their ability to chat in any language.

This move follows a trend among gacha games. Several titles, including War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Aether Gazer, and Snowbreak: Containment Zone, have already reduced or eliminated English dubbing. Reasons cited often involve prioritizing the most popular language (usually Japanese) and managing the long-term costs associated with voice acting.

Resource reallocation is a key factor. Maintaining English voice-overs for extensive content updates over many years is a significant expense. By refocusing resources, developers aim to ensure the game's continued health and development, prioritizing features players value most.

While this change may disappoint some players, FLINT emphasizes its commitment to providing improved services and a better overall gaming experience.
