A recent Reddit thread highlighted significant concerns regarding Marvel Rivals' hit detection system. A video showcasing Spider-Man landing a hit on Luna Snow from several meters away, despite visual evidence suggesting a miss, sparked considerable debate. Similar instances of seemingly inaccurate hits registering have led to speculation about lag compensation, but the core issue appears to be flawed hitbox implementation. Professional players have further demonstrated inconsistencies, with right-side aiming consistently registering hits while left-side aiming often fails. This points to a potentially widespread problem affecting multiple characters' hitboxes.
Despite this, Marvel Rivals, often dubbed the "Overwatch killer," has enjoyed a remarkably successful Steam launch. Day-one player counts peaked at over 444,000—a number comparable to Miami's population. While optimization issues, particularly noticeable on lower-end hardware like the Nvidia GeForce 3050, have been reported, many players agree the game is enjoyable and represents good value. A key differentiator is Marvel Rivals' less demanding battle pass system; passes don't expire, eliminating the pressure to constantly grind. This feature alone could significantly influence player perception and satisfaction.
