Nightingale, the open-world crafting survival game from former Mass Effect developers, is undergoing significant changes. Learn about the upcoming updates and the developers' vision for the game's future.
Flynn stated their dissatisfaction with the game's current state, player feedback, and player count. Since its February early access launch, Inflexion Games has prioritized quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, including the much-requested offline mode. The focus now shifts to refining the core experience and fulfilling the original vision.
Thomson described Nightingale, a game where players explore the Fae Realms, as "almost too open world," lacking clear direction. To address this, Inflexion Games will introduce more structure: clearer progression, defined goals, and improved realm designs to combat repetition.
Flynn emphasized their commitment to improvement, highlighting the need for a stronger sense of player progression and a better understanding of the different realms. The team is re-evaluating core mechanics and plans to increase build limits for more complex structures. Previews of these changes are expected in the coming weeks.
Despite currently holding "Mixed" reviews on Steam, positive reviews are increasing, with approximately 68% of recent reviews being positive. Flynn and Thomson expressed appreciation for player feedback. Flynn concluded by mentioning recent internal playtesting showed significant improvement, though the final judgment rests with the players.
Game8 shares similar concerns regarding Nightingale's lack of guidance and overly complex systems, particularly crafting. For a detailed review, please visit [link to Game8 review].
