The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Includes That Iconic Line Flub From the Original Game

by Michael Mar 08,2026

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda’s most beloved titles with updated visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and more—yet the team at Virtuos made sure to preserve one of the original game’s most legendary moments.

Most long-time Elder Scrolls fans are familiar with Tandilwe, the High Elf Master Speechcraft trainer found in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it was evident that Tandilwe herself could have used a bit of coaching. One of her voice lines turned out to be an accidental recording of actress Linda Kenyon retrying a line—a flub that became an instant fan favorite.

As players embarked on their journey through the reimagined Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see just how faithfully the ground-up remaster honored the original. While countless environments, character models, and items received a polished overhaul, others were thrilled to discover that many of the quirks that made 2006’s Oblivion so charming remain untouched. Tandilwe’s now-infamous (and hilarious) blooper is one such moment fans are ecstatic to see back—exactly as it was nearly two decades ago, subtitles and all.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Kenyon learned her slip-up had become a viral sensation—and she insisted: "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players diving into Oblivion Remastered are debating whether Bethesda’s re-release leans more toward a remake than a remaster, others are simply delighted to see so much of its original jank preserved. This quirk was something Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to keeping, and so far, it’s resonating strongly with both new and veteran players alike.
