Ubisoft has unveiled exciting details about the combat and progression mechanics in the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows. Game director Charles Benoit provided a deep dive into the character development system, loot mechanics, and the diverse array of weapons players can expect.
The game introduces two key progression elements: mastery points and knowledge points. Mastery points are acquired by leveling up or vanquishing formidable foes, whereas knowledge points are earned through completing missions and uncovering hidden items. These points unlock a variety of new abilities and enhance weapon capabilities, allowing players to tailor their gameplay experience.
Each weapon in Assassin's Creed Shadows features its own unique upgrade tree, empowering players to craft personalized builds. The flexibility to reset progress at any time encourages experimentation with different strategies and weapons. Legendary items, such as the naginata, offer distinct advantages, like the ability to counter attacks that other weapons can't handle, adding depth to combat scenarios.
The combat system encourages a mix of stealth and varied combat approaches. As players progress, they unlock additional stat upgrades, refining their skills and deepening their mastery over the game's mechanics. Ubisoft promises that achieving full mastery of all techniques and upgrades will be a rewarding journey requiring substantial time investment.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is scheduled to launch on March 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans can anticipate an immersive experience that seamlessly blends stealth, combat, and strategic progression.
