Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Using Cursed Possessions

Phasmophobia's most dangerous ghosts often require equally risky tools for identification, such as Cursed Possessions. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high reward but demanding careful consideration. This guide details its acquisition and usage.

The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By inserting pins one by one, you can trigger actions like EMF5 readings or UV traces, particularly useful with elusive or quiet ghosts.

Ten pins are available; however, each pin insertion carries a sanity cost of 5%. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.

The most significant risk lies in the heart pin. Pin selection is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) hunt near your location.

Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll's potential for evidence gathering makes it a worthwhile tool for well-prepared teams.

Cursed Possessions, or Cursed Objects, are unique items randomly appearing on any Phasmophobia map, with frequency potentially influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while providing evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at a significantly higher risk to your character's sanity.

The risk-reward ratio varies across different Cursed Objects. The choice of whether to use them is entirely strategic. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
