Indus, the Indian-made battle royale game, has achieved a significant milestone: over five million Android downloads and 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its launch. This success follows a Google Play Award win ("Best Made in India Game 2024") and a successful international playtest in Manila.
This rapid growth positions Indus as a major contender in the Indian gaming market, challenging established competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila playtest, held at the YGG Play Summit, provided valuable feedback and exposure, showcasing the game to international esports professionals.
SuperGaming, the developer, is further bolstering Indus's potential through the "Clutch India Movement," a large-scale esports initiative. The centerpiece is the Indus International Tournament, running from October 2024 to February 2025, boasting a substantial INR 2.5 crore (approximately $31,000 USD) prize pool.
Future Growth:
While the five million downloads are impressive, they fall slightly short of the initial ten million pre-registrations. However, pre-registrations often don't fully translate into actual downloads, and the lower iOS numbers suggest a need for further market penetration in that segment.
Despite this, SuperGaming's aggressive strategy—including international playtests and a substantial esports tournament—demonstrates their ambitious vision for Indus's future. The company clearly aims to establish Indus as a leading force in the Indian and potentially global gaming landscape.
