Release Date and Development Progress:

While a concrete release date remains elusive, Hamaguchi offered a positive development update in a January 23, 2025 Famitsu interview, stating progress is on track and exceeding expectations. A playable build confirming the game's direction was achieved by the end of 2024. Kitase also expressed confidence in the completed storyline, anticipating fan satisfaction with the trilogy's conclusion.

Timed Exclusivity Expected:

A March 6, 2024 Washington Post report suggests PlayStation secured timed exclusivity for the entire FF7 Remake trilogy. Following the precedent set by previous games, a PS5 exclusive launch period is anticipated before a wider release on other platforms. FF7 Remake's initial PS4 exclusivity lasted a year, while Intergrade enjoyed a six-month PS5 head start. FF7 Rebirth's PC release followed its PS5 debut in January 2025.

Square Enix's Multi-Platform Shift:

Despite the success of the FF7 Remake series, Square Enix's March 31, 2024 financial report revealed declining HD title sales. In response, the company announced a strategic shift towards a multi-platform approach, encompassing Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
