Take-Two Chief Bullish on Nintendo Switch 2

by Madison Apr 10,2026

With less than a month to go until the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, amidst ongoing discussions about pricing, tariffs, game cards, and other factors, one third-party publisher has expressed strong confidence in the console: Take-Two Interactive.

During a Q&A session with investors following the company’s full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick responded to a question about the publisher’s support for the Nintendo Switch 2 by stating he holds "great optimism" for Nintendo’s new platform. He also mentioned that Nintendo’s current approach toward third-party publishers has improved compared to previous cycles:

"We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, which represents a broader lineup of releases than we've ever had for a new Nintendo platform. In the past, operating as a third-party on Nintendo systems has been somewhat difficult. However, I believe Nintendo has made meaningful efforts to address those challenges. We, in turn, are stepping up because we're confident in the platform’s potential. When it comes to deciding what titles to release on which platforms, we evaluate each case individually—of course, we want to be where the players are. But we wouldn't automatically release every title across all platforms. There are also excellent opportunities to bring catalog titles to new audiences."

Take-Two will release Civilization 7 (launching June 5), the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and release dates yet to be confirmed), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). These titles are not entirely unexpected, as Take-Two has previously published all four franchises on the original Nintendo Switch. Still, Zelnick’s comments suggest the possibility of additional releases down the line—especially from the company’s back catalog. While a GTA 6 port seems unlikely, perhaps Grand Theft Auto V could find its way to the platform eventually.

Ahead of the investor call, we spoke directly with Zelnick about the company’s quarterly performance, touching on topics such as GTA 6’s development timeline and his perspective on the recent delay pushing its release to next year.
