Final Fantasy Tactics : Les Chroniques d'Ivalice présente un scénario entièrement retravaillé pour supporter la voix. Yasumi Matsuno, scénariste original, a confirmé lors d'une interview du 21 juin que bien que la trame narrative reste inchangée, des modifications approfondies des dialogues ont été réalisées pour optimiser l'expérience auditive.
Matsuno a expliqué que l'équipe s'est concentrée sur "préserver l'essence de ce qui rendait le titre PS1 de 1997 captivant, tout en modernisant sa présentation". Les réécritures ont privilégié une diction vocale naturelle tout en conservant le ton caractéristique du jeu et les portraits des personnages.
Le vétéran du développement a reconnu avec humour son évolution : "Vous remarquerez peut-être des différences subtiles de formulation reflétant trente ans d'expérience en écriture - bien que cela signifie amélioration ou simple effet de l'âge reste débattable !"
Le remaster propose deux expériences distinctes : une version Classique reproduisant fidèlement l'originale et une édition Améliorée avec des optimisations de confort de jeu. Le directeur Kazutoyo Maehiro a expliqué cette approche duale lors d'une interview le 22 juin, justifiant pourquoi l'équipe a évité une refonte HD-2D comme d'autres remakes Square Enix.
Maehiro a souligné leur objectif : "Introduire Tactics aux joueurs modernes nécessitait une réflexion minutieuse - nous ne pouvions pas simplement ressortir l'expérience de 1997 sans changement." Le développement a essentiellement créé deux jeux simultanément, mobilisant d'importantes ressources pour honorer l'original tout en façonnant la version Améliorée pour le public actuel.
Le directeur artistique Hiroshi Minagawa a détaillé leur philosophie graphique, notant qu'ils ont préservé l'esthétique originale après avoir évalué des conversions 3D potentielles. "Nous avons redécouvert des solutions de design brillantes dans les contraintes techniques de l'original", a-t-il expliqué. Bien qu'utilisant des techniques HD-2D, l'approche visuelle diffère de contemporains comme OCTOPATH TRAVELER par sa composition unique de sprites et ses traitements de couleur.
Après près de trente ans, Final Fantasy Tactics revient avec cette approche équilibrée - honorant ses fans dévoués tout en initiant de nouveaux joueurs aux conflits légendaires d'Ivalice.
