The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on the success of popular titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend doesn't merely draw inspiration; it appears to directly copy elements from Game Science's hit game. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot summary strongly resemble a direct imitation.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. Given the apparent plagiarism, Game Science could pursue a copyright infringement lawsuit, leading to the game's removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world teeming with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, breathtaking locations, and legendary enemies.”

In contrast, Black Myth: Wukong is a critically acclaimed action RPG drawing from Chinese mythology. The success of this title from a small Chinese studio, which even topped Steam charts, is remarkable. Black Myth: Wukong boasts exceptional detail, immersive gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat. While incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre, its difficulty curve is surprisingly gentle for newcomers.

The combat and progression systems are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides while still demanding strategic thinking. The battles are visually stunning, showcasing fluid animations. The game's greatest strengths lie in its setting and visual design; it's a captivating fairy tale, with character design and world-building so compelling that players find it hard to put down. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards (TGA).
