Smite 2 Is Now Free-to-Play

by Eleanor Feb 18,2025

Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.

A year after its reveal, Smite 2, built with Unreal Engine 5, delivers a refined experience. It boasts enhanced visuals, improved combat, and a revamped item shop offering broader item choices regardless of god classification. The core gameplay remains true to the original Smite: 5v5 battles featuring gods from diverse cultures.

The open beta introduces Aladdin, a new god exclusive to Smite 2, with unique wall-running and revival mechanics. His ultimate ability involves a lamp-powered 1v1 capture. Additional new gods include Geb (Egyptian), Mulan (Chinese), Agni (Hindu), and Ullr (Norse).

The popular 3v3 Joust mode returns, alongside a new Arthurian-themed map and updates to the Conquest map. An alpha version of the Assault mode and new "Aspects" (optional god enhancements) are also included.

Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated Smite 2 surpasses its predecessor in numerous aspects, thanking players for their alpha feedback. Ambitious new content is promised for 2025. While currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns, the developer remains open to a potential release on the Switch 2. Smite fans can now experience this enhanced sequel.
