Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered won't feature official modding support. Read on to learn about the game's position within the modding community and its breakout success following its surprise launch.

Bethesda recently concluded its official reveal stream for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, announcing immediate availability. The development team highlighted the game's significant visual and technical improvements over the original version. However, one notable omission has disappointed fans - the absence of official mod support.
Bethesda's support page confirms Oblivion Remastered won't receive native modding tools. The company didn't provide an explanation for this decision, which comes as particularly surprising given Bethesda's historical support for mod creators through official Creation Kits for titles like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield.
Despite this limitation, the modding community is already exploring workarounds using the original game's Creation Kit. Initial reports suggest existing mods are functioning with the remastered version. On Reddit, modders are actively discussing adaptation strategies considering the game's transition to Unreal Engine 5.

The modding community wasted no time testing Oblivion Remastered's VR potential using UEVR (Unreal Engine VR Mod) within hours of release. YouTube creator LunchAndVR shared footage documenting early VR tests with motion controls enabled.
The experimental VR session maintained stable 70 fps performance on medium settings with DLSS enabled, running on high-end hardware (RTX 4090 GPU, Core i9-13900 CPU, and 64GB RAM). These promising early results suggest Oblivion Remastered could become fully VR-compatible with further modder optimization.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (including Xbox Game Pass), and PC. For ongoing coverage and updates about the game, stay tuned to our latest reports!
