Moonstone Dominates: Ultimate Guide for Stellar Marvel SNAP Deck

Quick Links

Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, replicates the Ongoing effects of your 1-, 2-, and 3-Cost cards in its lane – a powerful upgrade to Mystique. However, building a successful deck around this potent but fragile card (often called "the Glass Cannon") presents a significant challenge.

After extensive testing, two optimal Moonstone deck strategies emerged: Patriot and Tribunal-focused builds. This guide details building and optimizing both. A brief review at the end helps determine if Moonstone is a worthwhile addition to your collection.

Moonstone (4–6)

Ongoing: Copies the Ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards in this lane.

Series: Five (Ultra Rare)

Season: Dark Avengers

Release: January 15, 2025

The Best Deck for Moonstone

Moonstone excels in supporting roles, not as the primary win condition. A robust strategy involves integrating Moonstone into a Patriot-Ultron deck. Prioritize copying one or two key Ongoing effects instead of over-relying on her ability.

This Patriot-Ultron Moonstone deck includes: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Card Cost Power Moonstone 4 6 Patriot 3 1 Ultron 6 8 Brood 3 2 Ant-Man 1 1 Mystique 3 0 Iron Man 5 0 Mister Sinister 2 2 Dazzler 2 2 Squirrel Girl 1 2 Mockingbird 6 9 Blue Marvel 5 3

Moonstone Deck Synergies

  • Set up board buffs with Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
  • Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
  • Deploy Ultron in the final round to maximize location control and buff benefits.
  • Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird provide backup power if needed.

An Alternative Deck for Moonstone

For a more exciting, albeit less consistent, approach, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Here, Moonstone becomes the primary win condition. This deck includes: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Card Cost Power Moonstone 4 6 Onslaught 6 7 The Living Tribunal 6 9 Mystique 3 0 Ravonna Renslayer 2 2 Iron Man 5 0 Captain America 3 3 Howard the Duck 1 2 Magik 3 2 Psylocke 2 2 Sera 5 4 Iron Lad 4 6

Ideal Play:

  1. Use Psylocke for early Moonstone placement.
  2. Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in her lane.
  3. Distribute power across lanes with The Living Tribunal in the final round.

Psylocke and Sera provide cost reduction, Magik extends the game, and Captain America/Iron Lad offer backup. Counterintuitively, Super Skrull proves a significant weakness to this strategy.

How to Counter Moonstone

Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also neutralize her. Moonstone's vulnerability stems from absorbing abilities within her lane; without protection (like Invisible Woman), she's easily countered.

Is Moonstone Worth It?

Moonstone justifies using Spotlight Keys because: 1) Her ability will gain value with future Ongoing card releases; 2) She's in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, minimizing poor pulls; and 3) She offers nostalgic combo potential. If you enjoy powerful board manipulation, Moonstone is a valuable acquisition.
