Marvel Snap Blocked in US Amid TikTok Restrictions

Marvel Snap, developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android on January 18, 2025. This ban, affecting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left many players frustrated, particularly due to the lack of prior warning. While users report authorization problems, the game remains accessible on Steam for PC players.

Second Dinner has publicly stated their commitment to restoring Marvel Snap's availability on mobile platforms, assuring players via Platform X that the game's future is secure and that they are actively working on a solution. The statement reads: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”

The sudden ban is particularly concerning for players who continued making in-app purchases unaware of the impending lockout. Interestingly, not all ByteDance apps were affected; Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground, for example, remain functional.

Recent game updates included the addition of Moonstone, a powerful Ongoing card. Moonstone's 4/6 cost and ability to copy the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane has the potential to significantly impact gameplay. The abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards already available, such as Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, makes Moonstone exceptionally strong, as she gains these power-boosting effects without additional cost.
