NetEase Games confirms a steady stream of new heroes for Marvel Rivals, with a new character launching every six weeks. This ambitious plan, revealed by creative director Guangyun Chen in an interview with Metro, will see each three-month season divided into two halves, each introducing a playable hero. This commitment extends to ongoing seasonal content updates, including new maps and storylines.
"Every season will bring fresh seasonal narratives, new maps, and new heroes. We're splitting each season in half," Chen stated. "A season lasts three months, and each half will introduce a new hero. Our goal is to continuously enhance the experience and keep our community engaged."
The first season, "Eternal Night Falls," already showcased this plan, launching with Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this pace with a diverse roster of Marvel heroes will be a significant undertaking.
While the initial roster includes popular characters like Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, and Storm, speculation abounds about future additions. Rumors point to Blade's appearance in Season 2, and fans eagerly anticipate the inclusion of Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men. NetEase's continued success suggests they are prepared to meet this challenge.
Beyond new heroes, Marvel Rivals Season 1 also introduced numerous balance adjustments and gameplay refinements, with further improvements planned for future updates.
