Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Character Will Be Played by One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata

Known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the live-action One Piece adaptation, Mackenyu will provide both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo, a key character in Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a crucial ally who assists the protagonist in eliminating a major target.

Ubisoft further describes Gennojo as: "A charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He's a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, balancing wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a deep desire for justice, especially for the vulnerable, he's willing to risk everything to achieve his goals."

While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his significance to the storyline is clear. Mackenyu himself revealed that Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League" and can be recruited as a companion throughout the player's journey.
