Leaked 2005 James Bond audition tapes surface online, showcasing Henry Cavill's impressive performance. The footage, found on the Ron South YouTube channel, also features auditions from Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr.
Games Radar reports that Cavill's audition has garnered significant attention, with many, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, praising his "tremendous" performance. Campbell reportedly favored Cavill, but the role ultimately went to Daniel Craig due to other executives' preferences.
While Cavill missed out on Bond, he later starred in the spy thriller Argylle, alongside a star-studded cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara. Despite the impressive ensemble, the film received mixed reviews, scoring a mere 4/10 on IGN.
Cavill's career continues to flourish, with notable roles as Superman for DC, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and numerous other projects.
