Players will embody Coen, a Dawnwalker—a being existing between human and vampire—in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally complex and vulnerable. His quest: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe (though in-game time differs). He faces Brencis, an ancient vampire who controls Vale Sangora. The trailer showcases Coen's unique abilities, hinting at both physical prowess and magical capabilities.

Rebel Wolves, the developers (comprising former CD Projekt Red staff), clarified several fan questions on their Discord server. Dawnwalkers aren't simply hybrids; they represent a distinct entity.
