Like its predecessors, Dynasty Warriors: Origins plunges you into the heart of ancient China's conflicts, allowing you to fight alongside various warlords. However, a crucial decision awaits: selecting your allegiance. This guide explains the faction selection process.

The early chapters (1 & 2) feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate, without committing to a specific faction.

Chapter 3 presents the pivotal choice. You'll be prompted to select a faction (Sun Jian, Liu Bei, or Cao Cao) before the chapter concludes. The game provides additional battles to help you familiarize yourself with each faction before making your decision.

To ally with a faction, complete a specific number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Upon completion, a mission will trigger, forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all faction missions before making your final choice.

Your decision is permanent. Once you choose a faction, the others become inaccessible. You'll lose the ability to accept side quests from their officers, hindering your bond and potential skill point gains. Faction choice can impact difficulty; for example, allying with Liu Bei initially limits officer interaction and side quest opportunities.

Each faction offers unique missions, so consider creating a save before Chapter 3 to explore all content.
