"Carey Mulligan Joins Cast of Barbie Director's Narnia Reboot"

by Brooklyn Jun 03,2025

The highly anticipated Narnia reboot, crafted by the acclaimed writer and director Greta Gerwig, has announced another notable addition to its expanding ensemble. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carey Mulligan, an award-winning actress known for her stellar performances, will join the cast. She will appear alongside former James Bond star Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey from "Sex Education," and legendary actress Meryl Streep.

Greta Gerwig is set to helm this new adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved fantasy series, "The Chronicles of Narnia." Her latest project focuses on the series' prequel novel, "The Magician's Nephew," which unfolds before the events of the iconic tale, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."

Carey Mulligan is expected to portray Mabel Kirke, the mother of Digory, the book's young protagonist. Daniel Craig will play the enigmatic magician who is also Digory's uncle. Emma Mackey will take on the role of a younger version of the White Witch, while Meryl Streep will lend her voice to Aslan, the majestic and god-like talking lion central to the series.

This isn't the first time Narnia has graced the silver screen. Between 2005 and 2010, a trilogy based on the initial three books of the series brought the magical world to life, featuring Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan.

Gerwig's upcoming venture marks her first significant project following the massive success of the 2023 "Barbie" film, which garnered critical acclaim and eight Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Original Song. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" is slated for release in 2026.
