Avowed Unveils Mysterious Cinematic Teaser

A colossal statue of a decaying knight, its armor ravaged by time and adorned with unsettling, realistic mushrooms, has materialized in London. This striking installation, a creation of Xbox, serves as both a chilling work of art and a stark warning, immersing onlookers in the bleak reality of the Dreamscourge plaguing the world of Avowed. Strategically placed posters advertising the Xbox Series X|S version of the game complete the scene, transforming a typical London street into a gateway to Avowed's grim landscape.

To showcase the meticulous process behind this ominous display, Xbox has released a behind-the-scenes video on YouTube, offering fans an intimate look at the creation of this unique promotional piece.

The game itself has garnered significant acclaim from Steam users, with an impressive 81% positive rating from Deluxe Edition players before its official release. This overwhelmingly positive pre-launch reception sets a high bar for the Standard Edition's debut.

Industry veteran Jason Schreier shared his enthusiastic appraisal of Avowed, highlighting its exceptional world design, compelling narrative, and engaging combat system. However, Schreier's praise focused particularly on the game's unparalleled exploration:

"Avowed has completely captivated me. Obsidian's storytelling and combat are as strong as expected, but the world design is truly exceptional. Every path leads somewhere, every rooftop is accessible, and there's always a hidden detail waiting to be discovered. Even after 40 hours, I'm still engrossed."

Schreier also acknowledged a noticeable disparity between critical reception and player response, drawing parallels to Fallout: New Vegas:

"Some of the reviews are surprising. It mirrors the Fallout: New Vegas situation—critics were divided, but players elevated it to legendary status. Avowed might follow a similar trajectory."

Given Fallout: New Vegas's initial Metacritic score of 83 and its subsequent ascension to classic RPG status, the question remains: could Avowed be destined for a similar journey towards RPG immortality?
