Is Avowed Multiplayer? Answered

by Emery Mar 21,2025

Many have compared *Avowed* to Obsidian's *Skyrim*, but it's arguably closer in spirit to their *Outer Worlds*—a first-person RPG with a strong narrative focus. But a question on many players' minds is: can you share this fantasy adventure? The short answer is no; *Avowed* is a strictly single-player experience.

Does *Avowed* Support Multiplayer Co-op or PvP?

Avowed offers no multiplayer functionality, neither co-op nor player-versus-player (PvP). You'll journey through the game's world with companions, but these will be non-player characters (NPCs), similar to the structure of The Outer Worlds. All enemies, regardless of strength, are AI-controlled. There's no invasion mode or any other form of online interaction.

What Happened to *Avowed*'s Planned Multiplayer?

Avowed, the character fighting a bear-like monster.

While some may remember Avowed being advertised with co-op features, it's not a case of false memory. Obsidian initially planned to include multiplayer. However, during development, the decision was made to cut it, prioritizing a focus on the single-player experience. Reports suggest the initial inclusion of co-op was largely a strategic move to attract investors. While this might have disappointed some, the final product is undeniably a rich and engaging single-player adventure.

Is There an *Avowed* Co-op Mod?

Currently, no publicly available co-op mod exists for Avowed. While future modding efforts remain a possibility, creating a comprehensive co-op mod for a game like Avowed is a significantly complex undertaking. Similar to the Skyrim co-op mod, which arrived years after release, any Avowed mod would likely require considerable time and effort. Moreover, Obsidian has confirmed they have no plans to add official co-op support post-launch.
