According to Remedy Entertainment's latest annual report, the much-anticipated sequel, Control 2, has triumphantly passed the concept validation stage and is now in full production. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the project, confirming its progress and solidifying its path toward release.
Alongside Control 2, two other exciting projects are actively in development: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. Just a year ago, these games were in the early stages of production preparation, but they have now successfully advanced to the next phase of development. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from Remedy's lineup. This project was canceled back in May of the previous year.
All these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its prowess in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy games. This engine continues to prove its effectiveness and versatility across the studio's diverse portfolio.
In terms of budget, Control 2 is set to cost around 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and will be available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak carries a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This title will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The budget for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remains undisclosed, but they are slated to be AAA-level games. Both development and marketing costs for these remakes are fully covered by Rockstar Games, ensuring a high-quality production and robust promotional campaign.
