Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is giving fans a voice in celebrating the Like a Dragon series' 20th anniversary! Read on to learn more about the anniversary celebrations and the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
December 2025 marks two decades of the beloved Like a Dragon (LAD) series! To kick off the celebrations, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio has launched a special fan voting project. You get to choose which iconic in-game items will be transformed into real-world merchandise!
Over 100 items are up for grabs, ranging from the unexpected (lingerie, incense) to the iconic (Kiryu's dragon mask, mahjong tiles). Think karaoke microphones, luxury lighters, 20th-anniversary sake, themed pillows—even more items reflecting the series' rich history. The item receiving the most votes is guaranteed to be produced and released within the next two years, according to the RGG voting website.
Voting opened February 8, 2025, and runs until March 21, 2025. You can vote once daily for your favorite item. Following the voting period, a separate survey will determine the final design of the winning merchandise.
RGG Studio first hinted at their 20th-anniversary plans in a December 8, 2024, Twitter (X) post (during their 19th-anniversary celebration). Director and Executive Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama expressed his gratitude to fans and teased upcoming events and announcements.
The 20th-anniversary festivities begin with the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 20, 2025. Yokoyama also mentioned various events and announcements leading up to the December 2025 milestone, alongside the ongoing merchandise voting project.
While no further announcements have been made since the initial video, fans remain hopeful. The studio's 10th anniversary saw the announcement of several remakes, resulting in the releases of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. This precedent fuels anticipation for significant reveals during the 20th-anniversary celebrations.
RGG Studio revealed the PC requirements for LAD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 10, 2025, via Twitter (X). The recommended graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or equivalent, easily achievable for most modern gaming PCs.
Given the game's release on previous-generation consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), the PC specifications are quite accessible. RGG Studio also confirmed Steam Deck verification.
SEGA recently released a story trailer on YouTube, showcasing Majima's high-seas adventure narrated by Pirate King Raymond Law (voiced by wrestling star Samoa Joe).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches February 20, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Visit our Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii page for more details.
