World of Warcraft Adding Recolors of Rare Mounts, But There's a Catch

by Henry Feb 21,2025

Two exclusive WoW mounts, the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar, are coming to World of Warcraft China. These mounts, reimagined versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, will be available starting January 15th through separate promotions.

The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, reminiscent of the Pureblood Fire Hawk, boasts auspicious clouds within its wings while in flight, a nod to Chinese culture. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a gilded variation of the original Ashes of Al'ar, features a sleek black saddle and evocative flavor text referencing Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Acquisition Methods:

  • Blazing Royal Fire Hawk: This mount will be obtainable through a "Treasure Workshop" event; specifics are yet to be revealed.
  • Golden Ashes of Al'ar: This mount is a reward from Landro's Loot Box, priced at ¥200 (approximately $27 USD). The loot box contains one of eight items, including other coveted prizes like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger. Group purchasing offers bonus crates.

While these mounts are currently China-exclusive, their release follows the successful return of World of Warcraft to the Chinese market after a partnership renewal between NetEase and Blizzard. Whether these mounts will eventually be released internationally remains uncertain.
