In the opening sequence of NieR: Automata, players are thrust into the action as 2B embarks on her mission. Upon landing and engaging in combat, you'll have access to both a one-handed and a two-handed sword. The two-handed sword, known as the Virtuous Treaty, is a formidable weapon that you'll lose shortly after the prologue. Fear not, as you can reclaim it soon after you gain the ability to freely explore in the subsequent chapter.

Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata

The Virtuous Treaty is the first additional weapon you can acquire if you head directly to its location, which isn't far from your initial spawn point after leaving the bunker for the surface. Once you touch down in the city ruins and descend to the lower area, look to your left to spot a highway near the nearest access point. Make your way towards the highway, using the ruins to climb up and run along the main road. This path will lead you back to the factory area.

Descend to the factory and follow the grassy path leading to the main structure. On the left side, you'll find another access point and a set of stairs leading upwards. Once in the upper area, look left to see the remnants of the bridge where you battled the Goliath-class enemy. Head to the edge of the destroyed bridge, and you'll find the Virtuous Treaty embedded in the ground, ready to be retrieved.

Just past the sword to the right, you can also find your old body from the prologue, which you can loot to recover your consumables.

Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

As with most two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels in delivering wide-sweeping attacks that can hit multiple enemies and deal significant damage, though it comes with a slower attack speed. With upgrades, this weapon can achieve one of the highest damage outputs in the game, provided you can effectively manage its slower pace. You can also mix it into a combo with a lighter weapon by using a heavy attack during combat, allowing you to integrate its high damage into a faster sequence, albeit without accessing its full combo potential.
