Umamusume: Pretty Derby Heads to Steam Worldwide

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping toward its international debut, bringing the horse girl racing simulator to global audiences. Developer Cygames announced via Twitter (X) on April 27 that the game will launch on June 26, 2025, with pre-registrations opening April 28.

Originally released exclusively in Japan on February 24, 2021 for iOS, Android, and PC, the game presents a unique premise where legendary racehorses are reincarnated as "horse girls" - characters with humanoid forms but equine features like ears, tails, and incredible speed. These characters train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, pursuing dual careers as racing champions and pop idols.

According to the Steam page description, players can "recruit talented trainees and supporters while experiencing an immersive sports life simulation through the game's comprehensive training system and cutting-edge 3D graphics!" The game features a gacha system with over 20 unique horse girls to collect, train, and compete with in races and dazzling performances.

Industry reports from March 2025 revealed the Japanese version achieved over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its launch year alone. Cygames aims to replicate this phenomenal success with the global English release.
