It's been a while since we last talked about Ubisoft, hasn't it? Well, next Thursday, the company is set to release Assassin's Creed Shadows, and the success of this game could be pivotal for the future of the entire corporation.
Today, Ubisoft's official channel released a new video dedicated to the game. You might think this is the launch trailer, but it's actually labeled as a TV commercial, which raises some interesting questions.
The video itself is not the issue—it's smooth, cinematic, and visually impressive. However, the concern is that Ubisoft seems to be leaning more towards traditional media for promotion. There's nothing inherently wrong with this approach, but uploading a TV ad to Ubisoft's YouTube channel does seem a bit out of place. This might be nitpicking, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the game's release.
That said, let's move past the speculation. The video does an excellent job of highlighting the differences in gameplay and fighting styles between the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is stunning, but you can't judge the entire game based on a one-minute cinematic. We'll have to wait until the release to get the full picture.
