Ubisoft's Stealth NFT Game Launch: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.

Ubisoft's New NFT Game

Ubisoft quietly unveiled Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a new NFT-based game requiring players to purchase a digital Citizen ID card for access. This follows Ubisoft's ongoing exploration of the NFT market.

A New Chapter in the Laserhawk Universe

As reported by Eurogamer, the top-down multiplayer arcade shooter launched on December 20th. The game, detailed on Eden Online's website, expands the world of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series. Expect appearances from familiar Ubisoft franchises like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed.

Limited Access and Evolving NFTs

The game's player base is capped at 10,000, each requiring a unique Citizen ID card. This NFT tracks player stats, achievements, and seasonal rankings, dynamically evolving based on in-game performance.

Acquiring Citizenship

To gain access, players need a crypto wallet and must purchase a Niji Warrior ID card from Ubisoft's designated page on Magic Eden for $25.63. Players can later relinquish their citizenship and resell their IDs, potentially increasing their value based on in-game success.

A Full Launch and Early Access

Ubisoft's Magic Eden page indicates a full launch in Q1 2025. Early access is available to those who secured their Citizen ID cards early.

A Blood Dragon Remix: From Far Cry 3 to Netflix

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix

The Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, serves as the inspiration for the game. It's an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC, set in a dystopian 1992 where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy. The series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his tumultuous journey.

Player Agency in the Game's Narrative

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's plot, it's set within this same universe. Players act as citizens under Eden's rule, influencing the narrative through mission completion, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement.
