TLOU Season 2 to Include Excised Game Content

by Elijah Feb 20,2025

HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 will feature restored content from the game's development, including "brutal" scenes from the cut "Lost Levels," according to showrunner Neil Druckmann. These levels, partially restored in the PS5 remaster of The Last of Us Part II, include Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers – offering a mix of calmer moments and intense horror.

Druckmann hinted at a "pretty prominent" character, previously only mentioned in the game, making an appearance, similar to Frank's introduction in Season 1.

The season will introduce numerous new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, alongside Catherine O'Hara in an undisclosed role.

Season 2, premiering in April, will adapt a significant portion of Part II, but unlike Season 1, it won't encompass the entire game. Showrunner Craig Mazin explained that Part II's narrative necessitates a multi-season adaptation, with Season 2 concluding at a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes, leaving the possibility of a Season 3 open.
