Soulslike Influences Surface in Leaked Oblivion Remake

Rumored Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake Details Emerge

Recent leaks suggest a full-scale Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, potentially launching in June 2025, developed by Virtuos. While unconfirmed by Bethesda or Microsoft, these leaks detail significant improvements.

The most intriguing detail is the reported integration of a Soulslike-inspired blocking system. This doesn't transform Oblivion into a Soulslike game, but rather incorporates elements of that genre's combat mechanics for a potentially more engaging experience. Further leaked information points to enhancements in stealth mechanics, a more forgiving stamina system, a revamped HUD, improved hit reactions, and upgraded archery.

The source of these leaks is a website allegedly belonging to a former Virtuos employee, as reported by MP1st. This suggests a substantial overhaul, not merely a remaster, contrary to earlier speculation.

While the January 23rd Xbox Developer Direct event was initially speculated as a potential reveal platform, multiple leakers have since dismissed this possibility. Therefore, fans will likely need to wait for official confirmation from Bethesda or Microsoft. The Developer Direct will, however, showcase Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and an unannounced title.

It's crucial to approach these leaks with caution, as they remain unverified. However, the detailed nature of the information adds a layer of intrigue to the long-standing rumors surrounding an Oblivion remake.
