A special Mass Outbreak event is underway in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, celebrating the Year of the Snake! This limited-time event boosts the appearance rate of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper, significantly increasing the chances of encountering their Shiny variants.
The event, running from January 9th to 12th, offers players a heightened opportunity to add these serpentine Pokémon to their collections. Silicobra will be found across Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokémon levels will vary (10-65) depending on game progression.
This event follows closely on the heels of a Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event, a fitting end to the Year of the Dragon. The increased Shiny encounter rate for this Snakelike Mass Outbreak is a notable 0.5% increase before any additional multipliers are factored in. Players can further boost their chances by crafting Shiny Sandwiches, using specific ingredients depending on the target Pokémon: Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper for Ekans and Seviper, and Ham instead of a pepper for Silicobra.
To participate, ensure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet. Access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu and select "Get Poke Portal News" to view the active Mass Outbreaks.
Event Summary:
With the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A anticipated in 2025, the future direction of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet remains to be seen. The Pokémon Company's plans for the remainder of the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
