Skate Expands Playtesting to Include Console Players

Skate Playtest Now Available on Consoles!

Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skateboarding game, skate., is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. This follows PC playtests that have been ongoing since mid-2022. After a long wait since Skate 3 in 2010, fans finally get a chance to experience the next generation of Skate.

The skate. Insider program offers access to this playtest. While the franchise was seemingly dormant for years, persistent fan demand (#Skate4) led to the creation of a dedicated development team and the eventual announcement of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest is a significant step towards that release.

The official skate. Twitter account announced the console playtest, showcasing a short video of developers addressing fan questions. While specific details on gameplay features (like the rumored improved replay editor) remain under wraps, the developers confirmed more Black hairstyle options are coming. They also playfully acknowledged the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement.

skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam—a work-in-progress inspired by various real-world and previous Skate game locations. While a map leaked in 2023, it's likely undergone significant changes. Fans can register for the playtest or patiently await the wider release.

Other Skateboarding Games to Enjoy in the Meantime

While the 2025 early access release date is targeted, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games are available to keep fans entertained until skate.'s official launch.
