Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real and actively in development, putting fan speculation to rest. This follows recent confusion sparked by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, which was later clarified as unrelated to a game announcement or ARG.

Official Confirmation

Griffin's statement on X (formerly Twitter) directly addressed fan concerns, reassuring players that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This marks the first substantial update on Silksong's status in over a year and a half.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Initially unveiled in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to its expanded scope and the developers' commitment to quality. The game promises a new kingdom, approximately 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" difficulty mode. While the delay has caused some impatience among fans, the recent confirmation is a welcome update after nearly six years of anticipation.

Mixed Reactions and Future Outlook

Fan reactions to the news are varied. Some express relief and continued support for Team Cherry, urging them to avoid undue pressure. Others remain frustrated by the lack of concrete details and a firm release date.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to a new kingdom. While a release window remains unannounced, further updates are expected.
