Silksong is still set to launch on the original Nintendo Switch as previously planned. Dive into the details about fans' concerns regarding the Switch 2 Direct appearance and explore new images from Nintendo Japan’s website.
Following Silksong's brief showcase at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, fans speculated that the game might bypass the current generation console and launch directly on the next-gen platform. Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the first Switch, Silksong later saw confirmed releases for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) on April 8 to address these concerns. He confirmed that Silksong will indeed be available on both the original Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
While there's no official word yet on how the versions might differ, players can anticipate that the Switch 2 version will leverage the console's enhanced capabilities for a higher resolution experience.
Following the Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo Japan unveiled new images of Silksong on their official website. Although the settings in these images have been seen before, fans have noted graphical enhancements compared to the 2019 reveal.
Despite the developers maintaining a tight lid on most details, Silksong’s fleeting appearance in the Switch 2 Direct and the release of new images hint that an official release date announcement could be on the horizon. Recent updates to Silksong's Steam metadata have further fueled fans' optimism for a release within the year.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. According to the Switch 2 Direct, fans can expect the game to hit the shelves sometime this year. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest on Silksong!
