While the Tomodachi Life community is buzzing with excitement following today's Nintendo Direct, the Hollow Knight: Silksong fans find themselves donning their clown makeup once more, as their eagerly awaited sequel was absent from the showcase. However, hope remains, as another Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd.
Of course, now we wait for April 2nd

The Silksong community has been riding a rollercoaster of anticipation and disappointment. Their subreddit and Discord channels are filled with memes and "silkposts" that mix fantasy, prediction, and humor about a game that feels perpetually out of reach. We've followed their journey, from the emotional swings caused by back-to-back Directs last year to the frenzy over a chocolate cake photo in January, mistakenly thought to be an ARG. It's challenging to gauge from the outside whether the community's reaction is more about genuine disappointment or simply fans enjoying the camaraderie and shared humor that comes with each new showcase announcement.
Nintendo Direct? That’s not until April 2nd

The upcoming showcase, however, carries a special significance. Hollow Knight first gained widespread acclaim when it was released on the Nintendo Switch, leading many to strongly associate it with Nintendo's platform. The upcoming Direct is set to unveil the Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing both hardware and possibly launch titles. This presents a perfect opportunity for Silksong to make a grand reappearance. While the event will undoubtedly feature numerous first-party titles, Hollow Knight fans are fervently hoping that Silksong's popularity and anticipation will secure it a spot—and that the game is finally ready for release.

Is another disappointment looming for Silksong enthusiasts? It's possible. Yet, there are signs that a release date announcement might be on the horizon. A recent Xbox Wire post on indie games casually mentioned Silksong, possibly as a playful nod. More notably, the game's Steam listing has seen recent backend changes, including an updated copyright year. However, the community has experienced numerous false alarms from Silksong's listings and delistings on various console storefronts over the years, making it hard to predict the outcome.

The only certainty we have is from Team Cherry's marketing and publishing chief, Matthew 'Leth' Griffin, who confirmed in January after the cake incident that "Yes the game is real, progressing, and will release." All we can do now is wait and imagine the world after Silksong's release.
So, keep your clown makeup handy for the upcoming showcase on April 2nd, folks!
