RuneScape Ends 24-Year Era in Finale

After 24 years of build-up, RuneScape concludes its longest-running narrative arc with the newly released Eclipse of the Heart quest, now playable on Android and other platforms. This climactic chapter brings closure to the iconic Desert Saga that began with the simple Prince Ali Rescue quest and gradually expanded into an epic tale shaping Gielinor's destiny.

Story Overview

Longtime players who've followed this saga have traversed blistering sands, uncovered buried secrets, revived dormant gods, and survived betrayals that altered Gielinor's power structure. Now Menaphos stands trembling beneath an ominous eclipse as Amascut, the Devourer Goddess, prepares her final assault. Like previous chapters, your choices will directly impact the outcome.

Quest Requirements

To undertake Eclipse of the Heart, adventurers need:

  • Level 90 Necromancy
  • Level 65 Agility
  • Completion of Pharaoh's Folly and Do No Evil quests
  • Progress in Fort Forinthry's construction

The quest begins in Menaphos where Pharaoh Leela presents a desperate plan to thwart Amascut before she devours the city's souls. Players should note that Amascut will become a full-fledged boss encounter starting August 4th.

Rewards Breakdown

Successful completion grants:

  • A prestigious new title
  • Four Stone-Touched XP Lamps (250,000 XP each)
  • Desert-themed Lorehound cosmetics
  • Amascut's Eye skybox visual
  • Enhanced Magic Carpet Dust

In related news, RuneScape is conducting a major gameplay experiment from July 28-September 30 with Cosmetic-Free Worlds. These test servers will disable all visual MTX elements including:

  • Character overrides
  • Teleport effects
  • Companion pets
  • Skill animations
  • Damage indicators

The game is available on Google Play. For more gaming updates, check our coverage of Pikmin Bloom's seasonal Shaved Ice Décor event.
