Rumor: One of the Biggest Xbox Franchises Reportedly Coming to Switch 2, PS5

Halo: Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Rumored for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2

A recent report from a reputable industry insider, NateTheHate, suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are in development for the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Both titles are reportedly slated for release sometime in 2025.

This news follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to expand the availability of its first-party titles to non-Xbox platforms. This strategy has already seen the release of Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves on other consoles. As Dusk Falls, while not developed by a Microsoft subsidiary, also falls under this umbrella due to its initial Xbox exclusivity. Furthermore, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on other platforms in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle expected to follow on PS5 in Spring 2025.

NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a six-game compilation, is among the next major Xbox franchises to embrace multi-platform releases. The leaker also predicts that Microsoft Flight Simulator, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, will also make its way to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in 2025.

This prediction is supported by another prominent Microsoft insider, Jez Corden, who tweeted that significantly more Xbox games will be released on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden believes the era of exclusive Xbox titles is over.

The future multi-platform release of Call of Duty is also virtually guaranteed, following a ten-year agreement between Microsoft and Nintendo announced in late 2022. The lack of Switch releases to date is likely attributed to the anticipation of the more powerful Switch 2, better equipped to handle the graphical demands of modern Call of Duty titles.
