by Allison Feb 10,2025

Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's showcase was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but! We'll cover the news, review the new eShop additions, and list the latest sales. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved clever, delivering a wave of announcements. Highlights include surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new entries in the Atelier and Rune Factory series, and much more. I recommend watching the full video; it's well worth your time!

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A fantastic surprise! This third Castlevania compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously bad arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside M2's significantly improved remake. Exceptional emulation and features make this an incredible value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer is a whirlwind of frantic action. Conquer five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will adore this; even those without a strong Wario connection should give it a try if they enjoy challenging platformers. A review is planned.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Another surprise release! It's Goat Simulator 3. You know the drill. Performance on the Switch is uncertain, as more powerful systems have struggled. Proceed with caution, though its chaotic nature might complement any performance issues. Ultimately, it's silly goats doing silly things in an open world. Your Switch might not appreciate it.

Peglin ($19.99)

I believe EA missed a huge opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to the Switch. Peglin, a fantastic alternative for Peggle fans, blends the classic gameplay with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. Available on mobile for a while, it's just as enjoyable on the Switch. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's latest shop sim incorporates the beloved Doraemon franchise. While it uses the familiar Kairosoft formula, the Doraemon license adds a fresh appeal. Expect appearances from characters from the manga and even the artist's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans! Up to eight players can enjoy local or online multiplayer in cooperative puzzle stages. A great choice for those who want more of the same, but unlikely to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels. Simple, straightforward fun.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Quirky physics-based puzzles, over three hundred in total. Utilize your character's abilities and drawing mechanics to solve puzzles. Supports up to four players locally or online.
