The launch of the trading function in Pokémon TCG Pocket has not met player expectations, despite being a much-anticipated feature. This has led the developers to consider reworking the trading system. To address player concerns in the interim, they are distributing 1000 Trade Tokens through the in-game Gifts menu. These tokens are essential for card trading within the app.
The team had previously announced plans to modify the trading mechanics and make the required trading currency more accessible. Players have expressed frustration over the trading restrictions, such as the limitation to trade only certain rarity cards and the necessity of using a specific currency for transactions.
I believe the developers faced a dilemma: either make trading as unrestricted as possible or eliminate it entirely. They rightly pointed out the potential for exploitation by bots and other means, but for determined players, these restrictions might only be a minor hurdle.
Hopefully, the upcoming rework of the trading system will address these issues effectively. A well-implemented trading feature in a digital TCG could significantly enhance its appeal as a viable alternative to the physical card game.
