Palworld Dating Sim: Real Game, Not April Fools' Joke, Developer Confirms

by Aiden Apr 26,2025

Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching game, Palworld. They've announced a new addition to their universe: Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim that promises to bring romance into the mix. Announced on March 31, this isn't an April Fools' Day prank, despite the timing raising some eyebrows among fans who are wary of the flood of fake game announcements that typically come with the start of April.

Pocketpair is keen to dispel any doubts, confirming that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is a legitimate project. The concept originated from an April Fools' Day stunt in 2024, where the team jokingly announced More Than Just Pals. However, the positive reception turned the jest into a real game, set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.

This dating sim introduces players to a unique setting, Palagos Private Academy, where they enroll as a transfer student. Here, players can interact with a cast of student Pals, including the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, characters drawn directly from the Palworld universe. The game offers players the freedom to forge friendships, pursue romantic relationships, or take a more bizarre route by dismembering and consuming their Pals, according to the official description.

Bucky, a representative from Palworld, took to social media to assure fans that this announcement is no April Fools' jest, emphasizing the seriousness of the project.

As Palworld celebrates its one-year anniversary and continues to roll out updates, including crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, fans have plenty to keep them engaged while waiting for More Than Just Pals. There's also a glimmer of hope for those wishing for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, and perhaps, in the future, Palworld! More Than Just Pals might find its way to the console as well.
