Netflix Games Scraps Six Upcoming Indie Games From Their Roster Including Don’t Starve Together

Netflix recently made significant changes to its gaming lineup, removing six previously announced mobile titles. This strategic shift impacts several anticipated games, including Don't Starve Together, Tales of the Shire, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Rotwood, and Thirsty Suitors.

Six Games Removed from Netflix Games:

Netflix's decision to drop these titles reflects a refinement of its gaming portfolio. The company appears to be prioritizing narrative-driven games and adaptations of its popular shows and movies over independent titles. This is evidenced by the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories, featuring shows like Ginny & Georgia and Sweet Magnolias.

While disappointing for those anticipating these games on the Netflix platform, most remain in development for other platforms. Don't Starve Together, initially slated for a Netflix mobile release, is now being ported to mobile by Playdigious. Rotwood continues its early access run on Steam. Tales of the Shire, initially planned for Fall 2024, is delayed until early 2025, and its Netflix release is unlikely. The cancellation of Compass Point: West, a Next Games title (a Netflix subsidiary), is particularly noteworthy. Finally, Thirsty Suitors, while not coming to Netflix mobile, is still available on Steam and consoles.

This move highlights Netflix's evolving gaming strategy, focusing on a curated selection rather than a broad range of indie titles. For the latest on Netflix's gaming offerings, visit the Google Play Store. For more Netflix news, check out the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories.
