Capcom's latest Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase delivered a wealth of new information across several titles. Highlights include a new story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds, expanded details on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny remaster announcement, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Debut
Targeted for a 2026 release, Onimusha: Way of the Sword promises compelling characters, a fresh protagonist, and engaging enemies. The development team is meticulously recreating the Edo Period setting of Kyoto, incorporating real-life historical locations. The game aims to deliver ultimate sword-fighting action with intensely satisfying combat. The protagonist, wielding an Oni Gauntlet, will battle Genma, fueled by the souls of vanquished foes. While challenging, the game is designed for action fans of all skill levels.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny – Remastered in 2025
The 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, receives a remastered edition in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's arrival.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 – Arkveld Awaits
The second Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging advanced quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first beta can be transferred. Returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt.
Beta Dates:
Character data transfers to the full game (February 28 release), but progress will not carry over. Participants receive a special Pendant.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Foes
The showcase unveiled a new story trailer featuring the Iceshard Cliffs, home to new monsters: Rove, Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and Gore Magala. Further details on Arkveld were also revealed.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16, 2025, featuring Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
