Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled a series of exciting updates and new content for the iconic video game. The first game drop of the year, aptly named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update promises to make the Overworld's biomes feel more immersive and alive with new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens, along with enchanting ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and whispers of sand. These additions aim to enhance the exploration experience for players.
The second game drop, although unnamed as of now, introduces intriguing new elements. A novel block called the Dried Ghast will be introduced, which players can rehydrate to create a Ghastling, a smaller, baby version of the Ghast. With care, this Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast, which players can ride using a specially crafted Ghast harness. This harness allows the Happy Ghast to carry up to four players, adding a new dimension to group exploration and gameplay. Mojang emphasized that the Happy Ghast will be particularly beneficial for Survival Mode builders, offering a taste of Creative Mode freedom within Survival Mode constraints.
A significant visual update, "Vibrant Visuals," was also announced. This upgrade, which does not affect gameplay mechanics, represents the first step in Mojang's vision to enhance the visual experience of Minecraft. In addition to game updates, Mojang shared a new clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a related in-game live event starting March 25. This event, set in Midport Village, invites players to join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience. Participants will defend the village from piglin attacks across three mini-games, with the event running until April 7. Completing all challenges during the event will reward players with the exclusive Yearn cape.
Mojang also provided insights into their future plans during a visit to their offices in Sweden. They confirmed no plans for a Minecraft 2, a shift to a free-to-play model, or the use of generative AI in game development, emphasizing their commitment to the current game's evolution.
