Marvel Snap: Top Agamotto Decks

Journey back in time with Marvel Snap's Prehistoric Avengers season! The season's star card, and arguably the most powerful, is Agamotto, the ancient sorcerer with ties to Doctor Strange. Let's explore the best Agamotto decks currently available.

How Agamotto Works in Marvel Snap

Agamotto is a 5-cost, 10-power card with a game-changing ability: "Game Start: Shuffle 4 Ancient Arcana into your deck." These Arcana are:

  • Temporal Manipulation (1-cost): "On Reveal: Give Agamotto +3 Power. Put him into your hand if he’s not in play. (Banish this.)"
  • Wombs of Watoomb (2-cost): "On Reveal: Afflict an enemy card here with -5 Power and move it right. (Banish this.)"
  • Bolts of Balthakk (3-cost): "On Reveal: Next turn, you get +4 Energy. (Banish this.)"
  • Images of Ikonn (4-cost): "On Reveal: Transform your other cards here into copies of the highest-Power one. (Banish this.)"

Notice the "Banish" keyword. These Arcana, lacking power cost, are Skill cards, not character cards. They're played, then banished—they don't go to the discard pile and can't be replayed. This means they combo with Wong but not Odin; King Etri won't pull Agamotto, and Ravonna Renslayer or Mister Negative won't affect them. Agamotto's diverse Arcana effects make him difficult to categorize into a single archetype, as he adds variability to deck strategies.

Top Agamotto Decks in Marvel Snap

While Agamotto's ultimate archetype may still be developing, he currently slots well into two existing deck types: Wiccan Control and Push Scream.

Wiccan Control:

Quicksilver, Hydra Bob, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Cassandra Nova, Rocket & Groot, Copycat, Galactus, Wiccan, Agamotto, Alioth. [Untapped decklist link here]

This deck is expensive, featuring many Series 5 cards. While Quicksilver is the only non-Series 5 card, many cards are replaceable with similar-cost alternatives. Bolts of Balthakk offsets the risk of not drawing Wiccan by turn 4, ensuring a powerful late-game push. The Arcana synergize well: Temporal Manipulation boosts Agamotto early, Wombs of Watoomb disrupts opponents, and Images of Ikonn creates powerful board states with cards like Cassandra Nova or Galactus. Note that Cassandra Nova's increased play is due to the synergy with Eson, the other new card.

Push Scream:

Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Rocket & Groot, Miles Morales, Stegron, Cannonball, Agamotto. [Untapped decklist link here]

This deck, also expensive (Series 5 cards: Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Rocket & Groot, Cannonball), benefits from Agamotto's versatility. Wombs of Watoomb provides disruption, Temporal Manipulation makes Agamotto a strong turn 6 play (especially after Bolts of Balthakk), and Images of Ikonn can create multiple copies of key cards like Scream or Spider-Man. Agamotto adds unpredictability and provides an advantage against Luke Cage/Shadow King decks.

Should You Buy the Prehistoric Avengers Season Pass?

Agamotto's power level rivals Thanos and Arishem; he'll be a meta-defining card, creating powerful synergies and frustrating opponents. His potential to form his own archetype makes the 9.99 USD Season Pass a worthwhile investment if you have the budget.
