Discover the latest updates and changes in Marvel Rivals, as the game developers respond to fan feedback and make significant adjustments to the player rank system.
In response to widespread fan backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision on mid-season player rank resets. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced this change in their latest update, Dev Talk 11, which retracts the previously announced plans from Dev Talk 10.
The initial announcement in Dev Talk 10 had proposed that players would experience a rank reset every 45 days, dropping them down four divisions. This proposal was met with significant criticism from the community, who felt it was demotivating, especially for those striving to climb the ranks.
With Dev Talk 11, Marvel Rivals confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, Marvel Rivals continues to push forward with other planned updates. The eagerly awaited addition of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains on schedule, bringing the total roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to introducing two new playable characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will stay the same. Those who achieve Gold rank or higher after the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while those at Grandmaster rank and above will earn Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, players reaching Gold rank will be rewarded with another free costume, and Grandmaster and above will receive additional Crests of Honor.
While balance adjustments were mentioned to follow the mid-season update, specific details about these changes have not yet been disclosed.
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback on the rank reset system showcases their commitment to player satisfaction. Within hours of the initial backlash to Dev Talk 10, the developers released Dev Talk 11, addressing the concerns directly.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is set for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and more information, visit our Marvel Rivals page.
