NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh and exciting for its players through regular updates. The developers plan to roll out updates approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes each quarter. This strategy ensures that players always have new content to explore upon returning to the game.
In a recent interview, game director Guangyun Chen revealed that each seasonal update is divided into two parts. The first half of the season will see the introduction of one new hero, while the second half will bring another hero into the mix. This approach keeps both the audience and the players engaged throughout the season.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also offer updates featuring new maps, storylines, and objectives. Among the characters already teased, Blade, who is not yet playable, and Altron, known from leaks, have been introduced. Furthermore, the entire Fantastic Four team has been recently unveiled, adding to the anticipation.
According to the Chinese publication GameLook, Marvel Rivals has generated around $100 million globally, with significant contributions from the Chinese market. Marvel, a dominant force in the film industry, has made a notable entry into the gaming sector with this title.
Despite the negative reception of Square Enix's Avengers, Marvel Rivals has successfully filled a gap in the game-service genre. The NetEase studio has delivered a high-quality heroic shooter with a roster of compelling characters, which has been well-received since its launch.
