DC Studios Unveils its Green Lantern Duo: A First Look at HBO's "Lanterns"
HBO has offered a sneak peek at its upcoming "Lanterns" series, featuring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. While the iconic Green Lantern suits are absent from the initial image, a Power Ring is subtly visible on Chandler's hand.

Described as a detective drama in the vein of "True Detective" and "Slow Horses," "Lanterns" will follow Jordan and Stewart as they investigate a murder that spirals into a far-reaching conspiracy. The series is officially part of James Gunn's DC Universe, sharing continuity with projects like "Creature Commando" and the upcoming "Superman" and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" films.
The show, developed by Damon Lindelof (Lost), Chris Mundy, and Tom King, promises a darker, more grounded approach. Gunn himself describes it as "very grounded, very believable, very real," a departure from typical Green Lantern portrayals.
Chandler, known for "Friday Night Lights," will portray an older Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre ("Rebel Ridge") takes on the role of John Stewart. The series is aiming for a 2026 premiere, coinciding with the release of the "Supergirl" movie.
