Konami debuts new Silent Hill f for first-timers

by Caleb Oct 12,2025

Silent Hill f doesn't continue any previous Silent Hill narratives. Similar to Silent Hill 2, it will present a self-contained story "separate from the franchise."

Konami officially confirmed this on social media, stating the newest entry in the horror series — traditionally (though not exclusively) set in an isolated American lakeside town — will be "an entirely fresh experience" designed to welcome newcomers to the franchise.

This standalone approach has precedent in the series. While Silent Hill, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins share continuity, other titles like Silent Hill 2 maintained looser connections. Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming even ventured beyond the titular town entirely. Konami's announcement definitively confirms that players won't need prior knowledge of the 26-year-old franchise to understand Silent Hill f's 1960s Japanese setting.

Play The game transports players to 1960s Japan, following teenager Shimizu Hinako as she navigates oppressive social expectations. The narrative comes from Ryukishi07, creator of the When They Cry visual novel series. As shown in March's Japanese reveal trailer, it marks the franchise's first adult-rated entry (18+) in Japan.

While the rating may adjust during development, previous Japanese-developed entries (Silent Hill through The Room) received CERO:C (15+) ratings. Western-developed games typically earned CERO:C or CERO:D (17+) classifications. Silent Hill f currently holds equivalent mature ratings worldwide (Mature in the US, PEGI 18 in Europe, CERO:Z in Japan).

No release date has been announced for Silent Hill f, and details remain scarce regarding No Code's Townfall project.
